BCOSS and this website run entirely on free software.
The operating system is Ubuntu Server, running as a virtual machine on VMWare's ESXi so there are no hardware or software costs.
The site is coded using PHP, a fully featured programming language which integrates with the Apache web server. Content is managed using the Alfresco Community Edition document management system.
The blogs, wiki, forums and members area are all powered by Alfresco Share.
Our mail server is protected from spam and viruses by SpamAssassin and ClamAV. Our webmail system is RoundCube which uses the open source database MySQL to store its data.
